Since 1986 Healthy Moms & Babes has been dedicated to improving the health and well being of mothers, babies and families throughout the Greater Cincinnati. What began as a small mobile outreach program has grown into a trusted organization providing eduation, support, resources and advocacy to thousands of families.
The Beginning
Healthy Moms & Babes was founded in 1986 when a group of dedicated women came together guided by research and a shared committment to addressing the unmet needs of mothers and babies in Greater Cincinnati. Founded through vision and compassion, these women set out on a mission to improve infant mortality outcomes in underserved communities and help families to build healthier futures.
By providing education, support, resources and health services by way of assisting women in having successful pregnancies, giving birth to healthy babies, increasing their ability to become loving parents, educating them on life the cycle and responsible decision making they started servicing high risk neighborhoods such as Walnut Hills and Lower Price Hill in August of 1986.
The Growing Years
Through pregnancy testing and assessments by way of a mobile unit Healthy Moms & Babes began servicing and working in neighborhoods on their mission to educate moms and provided educational and informational resources such as:

*First year of life, child growth and development
*Adolescent and Health Education
*Women's Health Education
In 1986, our first registered nurse serviced our first client and the original mobile unit served three neighborhoods bringing healthcare education and support directly into neighborhoods where families needed it the most. In 1996 we celebrated our 10th year anniversary and with a remodeled van with a new look allowed us to expand and service eight neighborhoods. In addition, in 1997 a second mobile unit was added enabling Healthy Moms & Babes to reach even more families throughout the community.

Expansion and Development
As Healthy Moms & Babes continued to grow, so did it's impact throughout Greater Cincinnati. Beginning with a staff of just three in 1986, the organization expanded its reach through innovative programs designed to improve maternal and infant health outcomes. Key initiatives such as the Parent Partner Grant, Ohio Infant Mortality Reduction Initiative (OIMRI), Help Me Grow, and the Pregnancy Pathway Program provided critical home visiting services, education, mentoring, transportation assistance, and support for high-risk mothers and families. Through strategic growth, community partnerships, and a commitment to reducing infant mortality and improving birth outcomes, Healthy Moms & Babes expanded services into additional neighborhoods and communities, helping more families access the care, resources, and support needed to thrive.
Our Impact
The vision is simple, yet powerful-to ensure that every mother and baby has access to the healthcare, education, resources and support needed for a healthy start in life. Today, we continue to build on that vision established by our founders. We stand to empower women, strenghthen families, strengthen communities and most importantly help every mother and child get the healthiest start in life.
This year we will be celebrating 40 years of impactful work in Greater Cincinnati. Although some things have changed yet, our work has not and we will continue to embark on our mission and vision where we envision a future where all babies are born to healthy moms, embraced by a loving family and community who help them thrive.
